Bayern Munich have won 18 straight games in all competitions against Werder. The last time that Bremen beat Bayern was Sept. 20, 2008. Claudio Pizarro scored for Werder in that game 11 years ago. Pizarro is now 40 years old and in his fifth tenure with Werder but still scoring goals for the club.

On Saturday, Bayern host Werder Bremen at the Allianz Arena. Werder are seventh in the table and fighting for a spot in the Europa League. Bremen are one point behind sixth-place Hoffenheim but have Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg only one point behind them.

Bayern have been the best team in the Bundesliga since Dec. 1, when they beat Werder 2-1. That win turned around Bayern’s season. Niko Kovac’s team won 15 of 17 games to overcome a nine-point deficit and pass Dortmund in the table. Serge Gnabry scored both goals in the first game against Werder. Gnabry have helped rejuvenate Bayern’s attack. In the last five games, Gnabry has scored four goals and added three assists.
